Windsurfing: Pevensey Wind Direction: NE Wind Stength: F4 - F5 Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Warm Sea Temperature: Warm Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered:
After some early morning car-hassles I finally got to Pevensey around
4:20pm, pretty much as everyone was packing up for the day. The "word on
the beach" was that the wind was very up and down, so it was hard to know
what to rig.
I chose to be optimistic and went for the Evo74/5.4m combination, which was
nice for the first 1/2hr, but then the wind tailed right off and it got a
bit marginal.
I would usually have stuck with it, but I had a new toy in the car to try
(Remedy 6.4m), so I headed in to change board and sail. Of course as soon
as I'd rigged up, the wind came back to 5.4m weather, just as had been
predicted by the others on the beach!
Anyway, I wanted to try the new sail overpowered and underpowered, so this
was a chance (perhaps) for the former. Had a good sail actually - just me
and one other out at that stage, and I'm glad to say that I wasn't ever
overpowered, even though you could really feel and hear the gusts coming
through. A really nice sail, although perhaps not *quite* as super-stable
and easy as the Matrix (very little in it though), but I'm hoping the
bottom-end will more than make up for it.
So, a big thumbs up for the brief evening session, the new toy, and more
importantly the amazing weather (still)!
